Welcome to Wateringbury Parish Council.
Over the past six months (April 2025 to September 2025), Wateringbury Parish Council has been working hard to deliver projects and improvements across the village. We are delighted to share some of the key achievements and updates with our residents.
Council Appointments
• New Councillors: Cllr Young, Cllr Packham, Cllr Chitty, Cllr Hutchinson and Cllr Davie have joined the Council.
• New Clerk: Suzanne Parr has been appointed as Parish Clerk.
• New Responsible Financial Officer: Rebecca Maindonald has joined to oversee financial matters.
Cemetery
• Handwritten cemetery records fully digitised.
• New price list, policies, processes and certificates adopted.
• Tree works completed – shaping and crowning to improve appearance and safety.
• New shed installed.
• Damaged car park barrier currently being manufactured.
• Volunteers now visit weekly to improve pathways and restore aged grave plots.
• Topple Test of Headstones Scheduled.
• New Remembrance Bench on order.
Allotments
• Abandoned plots rotavated and membraned ready for new tenants.
• Entrance transformed with a bark-chipped pathway leading to lower-level plots.
• New Application Forms produced and accessible on Website.
Recreation Ground & Pavilion
• Refurbished Pavilion handed back to the community.
• Dead trees removed and others lifted in the top field to maximise ground space.
• Zipwire replacement scheduled and playground surfaces repaired following inspection.
• New tenancy agreements drafted with community sports clubs.
Village Lock-Up
• Phase 1 of urgent stone mason repairs completed.
• Joint work scheduled with neighbouring property owners: tree removals, excavation of earth bank, re-turfing and new fencing to be installed.
Village Hall & Car Park
• Old fence removed; new bench and bin on order.
• CCTV system upgrade for the car park on order.
• In-Post Lockers being considered.
• Lease agreement with TMBC finalised to safeguard free visitor parking.
Governance & Finance
• New accounting software purchased with 2024/25 income and expenditure recorded from previous Financial Year.
• Internal Auditor appointed to carry out half-yearly reviews ensuring full compliance.
Community Engagement
• Volunteer Recognition Scheme launched, including a Coffee Morning meet-and-greet with Councillors and the Clerk for October 16th in Village Hall.
• Lorry Watch Scheme introduced to support road safety.
• Website refreshed with up-to-date notices, information, documents and events.
