19/159 REPORT FROM BOROUGH COUNCILLOR
Cllr Hudson reported with the return of Lockdown, the village hall is closed to all bookings. The only activity still taking place is the Community Fridge, but this has had to revert back to timeslots. It is open on Friday mornings from 11.30am. If anyone is not working, not getting paid, has had their hours cut and runs out of food or necessities, or times are just tough, please don’t let you or your kids go to sleep on an empty stomach. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to send me a private message. I will do anything I can to help. It may simply be a case of dropping off a food parcel and leaving. No one has to know.
There are further grants and other payments available to small businesses, please do get in touch if you need help and support. I am happy to help complete online forms with you.
I continue to collect prescriptions, and foodstuffs for shielding and vulnerable residents, and will do throughout this next period.
The Tommy silhouettes have been collected from the RBLI in Aylesford and are being put up on Thursday, in time for Remembrance Sunday. We are also decorating the living wall with poppies too, as a mark of respect. Large poppies were also purchased and have been placed on as many poles as possible and thanks to the permission of Wateringbury Place, all along the A26 on the railings of the estate. It really looks lovely.
The Telephone Box Library is arriving tomorrow. We will just need to get the shelving made, and then we shall be ready. A huge thank you to everyone for your kind donations of books.

Our next Community project is the tidying up of the village car park. A team from Grow 19 College, based in East Malling, are hoping to come along each Thursday, as part of their work experience, to help the Friends of Wateringbury in weeding, tidying and painting the fencing around the car park to make the area far more attractive and welcoming. It is hoped that we can get some planters made to go in the central island, and these will be planted with colourful bedding plants each Summer. If there is anyone who would like to help with this project – then please do get in touch with me. Due to lockdown, the start date has been put back. Paint and weedkiller would be funding out of my Borough Council allowance
I, along with many of my fellow councillors on TMBC, have a dozen anti-litter posters to put up around the village. I was hoping that the village warden would be able to help in putting them up in the places with the worst cases of littering in Wateringbury. Again, these would funded out of my Borough Council allowance. It was hoped that John Ibbs could liaise on the worst places.
